Asbestos Cancer Mesothelioma
A specific form of cancer is known as Mesothelioma, and is one type of cancer that is very commonly caused by asbestos exposure. This manifestation of cancer is caused by malignant cells that develop into mesothelium. Mesothelium is a type of lining that protects and covers a human body's internal organs. The most common areas for this are the peritoneum, pleura, the heart, the pericardium, and the tunica vaginalis. Mesothelioma is quite a serious health condition, and should be attended to immediately.
A majority of those who have unfortunately come to develop the type of cancer called mesothelioma are those people who have worked as employees for companies where exposure and inhalation of asbestos fiber and particles can be possible. The transfer of asbestos particles may also be possible through clothes, so even washing the clothes of someone who has been exposed is considered dangerous and risky. Mesothelioma differs from lung cancer in the sense that the former is not necessarily associated with smoking. There are however, greater risks of asbestos-based forms of cancer if one is smoking. Those who have been exposed to asbestos and diagnosed with mesothelioma are also reportedly known over the course of history to have had issues with funding and lawsuits with their former employers.
